I have just returned from a visit to Portugal, where I have been contributing to a permaculture design course over there... working with a group of young people interested in community led, bottom-up responses to the changing economic paradigm. Increasing numbers of people are realising that the State and corporations no longer represent their best interests or can meet their needs and are looking to other areas for inspiration. We are heading towards very low carbon, low energy, organic systems lifestyles rapidly, whether we are aware of this or not. Time to plan for a new reality. Sharing knowledge and collaboration being a good strategy to build resilient, locally based economies that can actually meet our needs.
